Details of plans for the return of one of the town’s most traditional events were revealed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Dundalk Municipal District Committee following a presentation from Dundalk BIDS.
According to LMFM, the new festival will look to build on the success of Frostival and Dundalk On Ice and will be based around music and comedy.
It is hoped it will run for 11 or 12 days in total to drive up retail sales in Dundalk.
In advance of the Maytime Festival’s return in 12 months’ time, a mini-festival will take place on June 4th this year when Independent Traders’ Day will be promoted as a big sale day called Super Saturday – similar to Black Friday in November.
As part of that they hope to attract up to 400 families from outside the town, to compete on the day in a promotion called “Radio Roulette” in conjunction with LMFM
