    Brigid’s Way 9 Day Pilgrimage

    July 1st to July 9th 2017

Brigid’s Way connects an ancient alignment of two prominent locations of devotion to Brigid in Ireland; Brigid’s Well, Faughart, Co. Louth and Brigid’s Monastic City, Kildare, reflected by the Cygnus (Swan) constellation which was prominent in the skies at the time of Brigid’s birth in the 5th Century AD

By following Brigid’s footsteps and those of our ancestors, this ancient Brigid pilgrim pathway between heaven and earth seeks to remember, reactivate and reconnect people with the sacredness of the land in Ireland.

The alignment passes through many sacred sites and beautiful Irish landscape from Faughart to Kildare including the Hill of Slane and the Hill of Tara, Brideswell near Kilcock, Donadea Forest Park, the Grand Canal between Robertstown and Milltown, Pollardstown Fen and the Curragh of Kildare. Starting on the 1st of July, this year Dolores Whelan and a team of volunteers will host and facilitate the complete 9 day pilgrimage from Brigid’s Holy well at Faughart, near Dundalk in Co. Louth, ending in Brigid’s Monastic City Kildare on the 9th July. The Brigid of Faughart Festival Team will facilitate Day 1 of the pilgrimage. Other guests will join us along the way and facilitate different aspects of the pilgrimage.
During our time on this pilgrimage Brigid will inspire a sense of soul and adventure in each of us as we walk courageously on her pathway,  as  we  each  engage   with  the art of pilgrimage  during the 9days of Brigid’s Way to:

    • Ponder on our life’s journey
    • Shed what no longer serves us
    • Dream in a bright and soulful future

Whether you know her as a Saint or Goddess, she will bless us and guide us into our soul’s destiny and we invite you to join us on this wonderful spiritual journey beneath her mantle.
We, in Brigid’s Way, understand that this is a big commitment for anyone to make and it may not be possible for you to walk it all this year. So we invite you to consider walking a significant part of the pilgrimage, especially Day 1 at Faughart and Day 9 Walking into Kildare. For full details of the route please click here.

Cost: Brigid’s Way is a voluntary group. The facilitation fee (which is €25 per day or €225 for 9 days) covers the cost of the administration of the pilgrimage, including arranging accommodation, meals, transporting luggage, support cars etc. and the expenses for the facilitators of the pilgrimage.
