Small settings. Clear choices.
What this site stores on your device, why it is there, how long it stays and how to change it. No account required.
Prepared & reviewed · 28 October 2026Useful features. An honest inventory.
This public application uses browser local storage and session storage for page navigation and features you request. It has no configured Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, advertising pixels, social-media tracking SDK or session-replay service. It does not set an application login or payment cookie.
A cookie is a small value a browser can send back with requests to a website. Local storage stays in that browser’s website storage; session storage is normally limited to a tab. These technologies can all fall within Ireland’s rules on cookies and similar technologies. Their purpose matters, not just their name.
Irish Data Protection Commission guidance requires consent for non-essential storage or tracking. A narrow exemption covers storage strictly necessary for a service you explicitly request. We use preference and saved-visit storage to deliver the features you choose, and router session storage to support navigation. We do not use those values to identify you across websites or build an advertising profile.
There is no “accept all analytics” prompt for a tracker that is absent. The cookie icon opens the actual controls available today. Hosting security systems and external websites have separate data practices, described in our privacy service inventory.
Exactly what is remembered.
These are first-party browser-storage entries used by the application. They are not advertising cookies. The entries are scoped to the website origin: choices on a preview address and the final public domain do not automatically transfer.
| Feature & storage name | Purpose & information | Duration & removal |
|---|---|---|
Business management tabledundalk-business-columns:… | Remembers visible column identifiers for your signed-in account on this browser. No business records or export contents are stored in this preference. | Local storage: until changed, reset, or this website’s browser data is cleared. |
Account sign-inCloud authentication session (sb-…-auth-token) | Necessary sign-in tokens and account session information, stored only when you sign in. Separate from saved visitor plans; not advertising consent. | Managed token/session expiry and refresh. Signing out removes the active local session; it does not delete account records. |
Accessibility & map choicesdundalk-interface-v1 | Reading size, simpler type, spacing, link underlines, contrast and whether external map tiles are allowed. Written when you change a setting. | Local storage: until changed or this website’s browser data is cleared. Reading reset preserves the map choice. |
Light / dark modedundalk-theme | Remembers the colour mode you choose. Without a saved choice, the website can follow your device’s colour preference. | Local storage: until you change the mode or clear this website’s browser data. |
Reduced animationdundalk-motion | Remembers whether you pause site animation. Your device’s reduced-motion setting takes precedence. | Local storage: until changed or cleared. Reading reset restores site motion, while continuing to respect your device. |
Your saved placesdundalk-saved-places | Place identifiers for the visit plan you build by pressing save. No visitor account or server-side itinerary is created. | Local storage: until you unsave the places, clear your saved visit in Cookie settings, or clear browser data. |
Self-guided trail progressdundalk-trail:… | Identifiers of the stops you mark as visited on a named trail. Viewing a new trail alone does not save progress. | Local storage: until the trail is reset, your saved visit is cleared, or browser data is cleared. |
Return to your placetsr-scroll-restoration-v1_3 | TanStack Router stores page scroll positions so returning to a listing can restore your place. | Session storage: normally the life of the tab. Restoring a browser session can retain it longer, depending on the browser. |
Local-storage entries have no automatic expiry in this version. Your browser may evict them earlier. They are not automatically sent to our server as a visit plan or accessibility profile, although browser storage is accessible to scripts running with this website’s permissions. Other people using the same browser profile may see your saved visit. Avoid saving anything you would not want them to see.
Your browser also caches images, fonts, scripts, styles and requested festival videos to make later visits faster. This is ordinary browser caching, separate from the preference entries above. Cached files can remain until they expire, are replaced, are evicted by the browser, or you clear the cache. Downloaded GPX files and other files remain wherever you save them until you delete them.
A connection can matter without a cookie.
When an interactive map is opened, locally bundled Leaflet code requests street-map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org. Those requests disclose technical information including your IP address, browser and requested map area to the tile provider. They do not request your live GPS location.
External map tiles are allowed by default after your browser preferences are read. Turn them off in Cookie settings to remove active interactive maps and stop new tile requests from them. Text listings, addresses and the locally hosted official BID boundary remain available. You can allow tiles again in the settings panel or a map’s placeholder.
Some photographs are delivered by event, venue and image hosts as their cards enter view. Map settings do not block these images, site-hosting requests, or a destination website you choose to open. See external images and linked services for details.
Opening Google Maps, an event booking, Facebook, Instagram, EPSO or a hotel website takes you to a separate service. Its own cookies and choices apply there. Linking to Google Maps does not install Google Analytics on this site.
Google Analytics: not currently configured.
The reviewed application contains no GA4 measurement ID, gtag.js integration, Tag Manager container, Google Ads tag, Meta Pixel or session-replay integration. There is no application analytics toggle to switch on and no Google Analytics cookie is intentionally set by this code.
For clarity, Google documents the common GA4 cookies _ga (distinguishing users) and _ga_<container-id> (session state), with a default duration of two years subject to settings and browser limits. These are explanatory examples, not entries currently used by this application. Google can also receive measurements without cookies in some configurations, so “no cookie” alone would not mean “no data sent”. Google’s GA4 cookie documentation ↗
If analytics or marketing is introduced, this policy and the controls must change before activation: identify the provider, purpose, data, actual cookie durations, recipients, retention and transfer arrangements; offer a genuine prior choice where required; and make withdrawal as easy as acceptance. Continuing to scroll or closing the settings panel is not consent to a future tracker.
You can change your mind.
- Map connections: use the cookie icon and switch external map tiles off or on. The choice applies immediately on this site.
- Reading settings: use the accessibility icon. Reset restores the original reading controls and site-motion preference while respecting device reduced motion. It keeps your map and theme choices.
- Saved visit: “Clear saved places & trail progress” asks for confirmation, then removes only the saved-place and trail entries. It keeps reading, theme, motion and map settings.
- All website data: use your browser’s site-data controls to remove this origin’s local storage, session storage, cookies and cached files. Other domains must be cleared separately. Clearing data restores defaults, including allowing external map tiles next time you open a map.
- Blocked or private storage: core browsing still works; some choices may last only for the current visit. Your browser can restrict storage or external requests independently of this panel.
Changing a setting prevents future activity covered by that control. It cannot undo an earlier request or erase information already received by a provider. Browser “Do Not Track” and similar signals are not treated as consent to add tracking.
Questions, changes and your rights.
This inventory was reviewed on 28 October 2026. Changes to integrations, hosting or storage need a fresh review. The privacy policy explains the BID’s role, technical processing, enquiries, public listings, retention, international transfers and your data-protection rights.
