Amy Broadhurst's extraordinary 2022 brought world light-welterweight gold in Istanbul, European gold and a Commonwealth title. Sport Ireland recognised the Dundalk boxer as its Sportswoman of the Year. Her story began at Dealgan Boxing Club, with her father Tony and brothers part of a family steeped in the sport. Those club beginnings matter as much as the podium: years of coaching, travel and daily practice preceded the celebrations. Broadhurst's homecoming made international success feel close to home for another generation of young Dundalk boxers.
