The sporting story
Geraldine Finegan's story stretches across decades of running, jumping and throwing. The Church Street athlete returned from the 2022 World Masters Championships in Tampere with five medals in the over-55 category: team gold, one silver and three bronze. Her achievements also include national senior heptathlon titles, recorded by Athletics Ireland, before continuing to compete in masters age groups. Associated with Dundalk's North East Runners, she offers a different kind of sporting inspiration: international competition and technical improvement can remain part of life well beyond an athlete's early senior years.
