A different perspective on ageing
Age Friendly Louth and An Táin Arts Centre marked a shared filmmaking project with a premiere on 6 October. The two resulting films, Fragments and Pieces of Us, explore ageing and challenge stereotypes through participants’ experiences.
Summer workshops at Dunleer Library brought participants together with writer Niall O’Brien and filmmaker Sean McMahon. The Creative Ireland-supported project then reached a Dundalk audience of participants and their families at An Táin.

One film you can watch
The council has made Pieces of Us available on its YouTube channel. Fragments remains private because it contains sensitive personal stories; it is not being presented here as a publicly available film.
The distinction matters: celebrating a community project also means respecting the choices people make about how their experiences are shared.

Culture at a human scale
Our perspective & suggestionsOur view: a town’s cultural life includes the space it makes for everyday voices. A film project can bring a different audience through an arts centre’s doors and give participants a way to shape the story themselves.
For your next visit, explore An Táin’s current programme or combine a show with a walk through the town. The premiere reported here has already taken place; the public film remains the route into this particular project.
